In Dark Souls 3, managing your healing capacity is crucial for surviving punishing boss encounters and navigating dangerous zones. Upgrading your Estus Flask requires finding Estus Shards scattered across the Kingdom of Lothric and delivering them to Andre the Blacksmith. Securing every shard maximizes your total flask charges to fifteen, providing the ultimate safety net for your journey.

Early Game Shard Locations

The first shard is easily acquired in Firelink Shrine by purchasing the Key to the Tower from the Handmaid or performing a tricky tree jump to reach the rafters. Shortly after, inside the High Wall of Lothric, you will find a shard resting on an altar in the large dining room guarded by dogs and hollows. Moving into the Undead Settlement, another shard sits at the base of a burning tree surrounded by worshiping villagers.

Mid Game Exploration and Swamp Shards

In the Road of Sacrifices, head toward the Crucifixion Woods bonfire to spot a shard tucked near a ruined wall defended by lycanthropes. Deep within the Farron Keep swamp, a shard rests at the base of a fallen tower near a group of slug enemies. Players visiting the Cathedral of the Deep will encounter a shard right outside the Cleansing Chapel bonfire near a stone monument.

Subterranean and Catacombs Shards

Navigating the Smouldering Lake leads to a hidden shard behind an illusory wall near the Old King's Antechamber bonfire. Down in the Irithyll Dungeon, defeat a group of jailers to clear the path toward a chest containing another upgrade. Consistently checking corners and hidden passages in these dark regions ensures you never miss a vital flask upgrade.

Late Game and Final Shard Locations

In Anor Londo, a shard is located inside a chest positioned along the left wall of the dark main hall before the Aldrich boss fight. Later in the Grand Archives, players can venture up to the rooftops where three Winged Knights patrol to claim the final shard. Collecting all eleven world shards allows you to hit the maximum flask limit and easily sustain through the toughest endgame challenges.
